Why 90% of People Are Afraid to Change Their Lives and How to Become One of the 10%
In over 20 years of working with people, I’ve noticed a pattern: almost everyone who comes to me already knows exactly what needs to change. The problem is never a lack of knowledge. The problem is the fear of taking the first step.
Why the Brain Resists Change
Our brains are wired to conserve energy and avoid risk. Any change means uncertainty, and the brain perceives uncertainty as a threat. That’s why, even when you’re unhappy with your current life, it still seems “safer” than an unknown future.
I’ve built more than one business—and every time before launching, I felt that same fear. The difference between those who achieve results and those who stay stuck isn’t that the former aren’t afraid. They take action despite their fear.
Three things that really help
1. Break the change down into small steps. The brain finds it easier to accept small, manageable actions than a single big leap.
2. Surround yourself with people who’ve already walked this path. Your environment shapes 80% of your progress—that’s one of the reasons I created Elite Players.
3. Take action before you feel ready. Readiness comes through taking action, not before it. If you recognize yourself in this text—maybe this is the moment to take that first step.
